As we know that tomorrow i.e. 26th January is seen as Republic day in India. Here are the few facts I want to share with you all, which I believe every Indian should be aware of and fell proud.
Why The Republic Day is celebrated?
Yes, the Constitution came into force on this day but it is not the only reason. This day is also seen as the day to commemorate the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country and to confer bravery awards on military persons, citizenry and children for showing courage in the face of adversity.
The Republic day event is started by the prime minister with a short dedication at Military Memory (India Gate). The president takes on the center stage and takes salute from different defense forces.
The republic day celebration continues till 29th January and Band playing Christian hymn: “Abide with Me” which is MK Gandhi’s favorite, marks the culmination.
Every year we welcome head of state or government of another country as the state guest of honor and this year, we have Ten guests (Head of ASEAN state).
About The Constitution:
Our Constitution is the longest written in the world (Britain even does not have a one). 12 schedules and 395 articles cover almost everything.
The Constitution is well calligraphed by Prem bihari narain raizada in English and is preserved in helium-filled cases in the Parliament.
The Drafting Assembly was not directly elected by people but comprised of all the sections of Indian society – Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Parsis, Anglo-Indian, Indian Christian, SC and ST including women from all the sections.
MK Gandhi was never a part of the Constitution making. May be that’s why it lacks the Gandhian philosophy and Ideals.
The total expenditure on making the constitution amounted to 64 lakhs.
Enjoy the freedom provided by the briefest Constitution and the most Democratic Country in the World. Let us use the Rights and liberty for the upliftment of India. Happy Republic Day!
