I always think that the main difference between humans
and other animals is ability to think. Humans are gifted by the ability of
thinking and ability to ask questions. In childhood I was very curious and used
to asked many questions to my parents. Like how refrigerator works? How water
is lifted upward by pumps? How car engine works? But it was ground root for my
interest in research of mechanical domain. Since that early encounter, I was
intrigued by the wonders of engineering and technology. Being brought up in a
developing country like India, I have seen how technology impacts everyone’s
life. And after realizing the unfolding challenges and opportunities that the field
of engineering has to offer, that I decided to make my career in it. When I
envisage about the realm of science and technology, I couldn’t think of any
domain that has contributed most towards the development of the world but
Mechanical Engineering. It covers some of the most interesting phenomena and
principles of science & engineering including machine design, thermal
engineering & fluid sciences etc.

During schools I was very enthusiastic about my
studies and my favorite subjects was science and mathematics. I secured 93.53%
in matriculation exam (SSC) .I was in one of the top 5 students in our school.
And subject topper in science with 100 out of 100 marks. I was awarded by
Maharashtra state board for full marks in science. My respect for education and inclination towards
applied science drove me to opt for math, physics and chemistry in my higher
secondary education. Right from my school days, I was fascinated by all things in
mechanical. Hence I opted to take technical subjects like Workshop Technology and
computer course in high school itself. Foraying into these subjects made it
clear to me that Mechanical Engineering was the field I must pursue. What impressed me most
was learning about machines and their mechanisms. Thus, I had no doubts about
my academic choices for under graduate education. I took up Bachelor’s in
Mechanical Engineering from KBT College of Engineering, affiliated with the
Pune University. Since it is arguably the broadest and the most multifarious
engineering branch, I have been able to get acquainted with the basics of a
wide spectrum of disciplines viz. Fluid Mechanics, Applied thermodynamics, Heat
and Mass Transfer, IC Engine,
Turbo Machines, Refrigeration and air conditioning, Automobile
Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, Machine design, Dynamics of Machines, Metallurgy, Theory of machines and
CAD-CAM. I underwent career enhancing certifications like
AutoCAD and pro-e which helped me to learn various design aspects. During
graduation I worked on project vibration analysis of beam using fft analyser.
My
undergraduate study was a richly rewarding experience, during which I have
participated in various Industrial training programs.

After
completing graduation successfully with distinction grade. Due to my innate
interest in the field of research in Mechanical Engineering I choose to go for
Masters Programme. I got admission in Master of technology in
Mechanical Engineering (Heat Power Engineering) at Vishwakarma institute of
technology Pune. Which is one of the top institute in our state.  My objectives of joining a Masters of
technology was I wanted to hone my intellectual abilities, to acquire in-depth
competence in my stream of engineering, to develop individuality and
conviviality, to learn for collective good and expand my horizons of knowledge.
It was at Master’s level where I got opportunities for further development as a
researcher for Mechanical Engineering.

I
consider this part of my education when I developed effective methods for
grasping the concepts, clearly understanding the basics through increasingly
creative approaches. During masters I explore subjects like CFD
Computational Fluid Dynamics, IC engine Fuels and Combustion,
Advanced
Thermodynamics, Thermo Fluids, Design
of Heat Exchangers, Energy Conservation and Management,
Electronic
cooling and packaging Advanced Measurements and Data Analysis.
Masters course also include Thermal engineering lab, two technical seminar and
two mini projects which fulfil my thrust for research. The
breadth and depth of the courses coupled with a stimulating research
environment seem to me the right mix for seminal work and pioneering research.

During
masters I got opportunity to work on big research project which was my final
year dissertation titled, “Development and analysis of heating system for
septic tank of sustainable Toilets” which was sponsored by miler foundation. It
was honour to work under the guidance of Prof. Dr. S. K. Jabade. It was great
opportunity to show my skills and knowledge. During project I faced many
problems but I managed to solve them by my patience and positivity. The major
concern of this project was to develop a heating system in septic tank .Heaters
were placed in the septic tank to maintain the constant temperature between
range 35º to 45º Celsius precisely. The temperature has to be maintained in
this range because Thermophilic Bacteria are activated at this temperature
which increases the production of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) gases.
Whole system is work on PV solar panel.so there was limited power supply from
solar panel. Though tank was insulated but it was not possible to raise the
desired temperature from room temperature by using solar panel.so this was the
big problem during project. So after brainstorming and different trial and
error experiment I found solution it was for preheating of tank. Since I began
my undergraduate education I have committed myself to maintaining high grades.
I achieved a very high grade for my dissertation and I am keen to build on my
interest in research during the PhD course.

Apart
from academics, I am good at music. I am harmonium player and successfully
completed three exams. I love to travelling and yoga too .I was an active
member of the ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air
Conditioning Engineers)-Nashik Sub Chapter and MESA (Mechanical Engineering
Student Association). In addition to my academic pursuits, I have also been
active on several co-curricular and extracurricular fronts. Being associated
with various organizations and associations has helped me hone my managerial
and organization skills. I coordinated a national level technical event
conducted by the Mechanical Engineering department of my college. I was also
the event coordinator for a workshop on Tribological aspects in Design
organized by the same department. I headed the Technical Section of my
college’s Magazine. Abhivyakti (Expression), I have also won prizes

The
pursuit for knowledge has been the supreme goal in my life. We are in an era of
global and technological changes where boundaries are fast disappearing and the
greatest challenge tomorrow holds for us is to manage continuity of change. To
satiate my curiosity and to fulfil my ambitions I have decided to PhD program
in Mechanical Engineering. I would like to get involved in research work in
this area. Although there is a vast scope for research in this area, the scope
for research in India is limited. The need for exposure to a wider environment
has prompted me to seek an opportunity to study in your esteemed university.
It
is my understanding that PhD candidates will become future leaders in the
industry, in research, teaching and academics creating future of many engineers,
and I feel that I have a solid foundation in all of these areas.

I
found your esteemed university, known for its great facilities, will be the
ideal place for me to pursue my PhD studies.  Interacting with the best
minds of the world will be an enriching experience and this will spur me on, to
