Media access control address is also called physical
address. It is your PC unique hardware number. It is the same with your
Ethernet address. A corresponding IP address is generated against your device
when you are connected to the internet as a host. Data link layer of the
network has a sublayer called Media Access Control; it uses that MAC address of
your device to register it on the network. Each physical device type possesses
different MAC sublayer. All operating system contains an option to change MAC
address. This article will guide to find MAC address of different operating
systems and to alter them.

Window O.S may maintain more than one MAC address, which is not associated with
hardware of the device. Some VPN clients have their own MAC address. MAC
address of these virtual networks has same length and format as MAC address
